Super Bowl XLIX: Movie TV Spots

thCA2EW3SDThe 2014-2015 NFL Football Season is officially over. 0ap3000000467537

If you watched what was an amazing Super Bowl game last night, you witnessed the New England Patriots capture their 4th franchise Lombardi Trophy. But you also witnessed arguably the most anticipated part of the night…the commercials including some being movie spots for the more anticipated blockbusters we’ll see in 2015. Since I fancy myself a movie reviewer and general movie blogger, I’m going to run through several of the most anticipated movies that did get a short spot during the game.

thCACS8AWCLet’s start with my personal most anticipated, “Jurassic World”. Along with being my most anticipated it was also my favorite TV spot. jurassic_world_screenshot_115742It gave us a few new “quick” shots of this hybrid T-Rex looking thing. What you also are getting in this quick spot was more of the actually story. Which was very cool, probably one of the only movie shorts to actually give us something more to talk about other than cool visuals. In the original trailer it ends with the scene of Chris Pratt riding a motorcycle side-by-side with Velociraptors. heres-the-awesome-jurassic-world-trailer-that-aired-during-the-super-bowl

But it’s a interesting visual that leaves you wondering what’s going on there? You get your answer here! Chris Pratt’s character is indeed training Velociraptors. Not possible?! Well how would you know? Exactly! You don’t know and honestly who cares?! What we know for sure is the following: You got a hybrid dino-monster killing everything just cause he can. You have 20,000 people stuck inside the park like sitting ducks. Chris Pratt trains Velociraptors and is using them as a gang to take this thing down.

Final Thought: I’M DOWN! TAKE MY MONEY!

avengersOf course we got an “Avengers 2” TV spot. Nothing really new here. Some cool new visuals and images. Avengers-L-Ere-d-Ultron-nouveau-teaser-petit-mais-costaud_reference Got a cool shot of Ultron taking aim at a unlucky member of the Avengers I’m sure. Even got to hear Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) actually speak his name during the scene they are all assembled together in the Stark Tower. avengers_scarletwitch2 I love the shot of Scarlet

Witch exiting a building and just nailing Iron Man with her version of a Haduken (Street Fighter reference). But again, not much to discuss besides this movie looks like it’s going to be absolutely awesome and borderline scary with Ultron just unleashing pure evil on Marvel’s all-star list of Super Heroes. Final Thought: Despite nothing new, can’t be anymore excited for this sequel!

Ted_2_MovieAnother much anticipated sequel got in on the TV Spot action with Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted 2”. Now…this is interesting since this TV Spot was one of my favorites until I heard some heart breaking news. tom-brady-stars-in-the-ted-2-super-bowl-spot The spot shows Mark Wahlberg and Ted breaking into someone’s house with much excitement. Once in the bed room, you realize it’s none other than New England Patriot’s star QB, Tom Brady. If you know anything about the movie’s story line you get what’s going on here. But if you don’t, nutshell version is Ted wants a baby and needs human sperm to get it done. This TV Spot was great! Had me laughing through all 30 seconds of it.

They joke their way through it and even take a nice peak at the Tom’s…um…deflated balls (see what I did there?) only to get a glow of yellow light followed by a lovely tune. Shortly after Tom wakes up and throws them out, literally! But then I caught AMC’s Movie Talk (which if you don’t watch, you definitely should!) where John Campea explains how this is not apart of the movie whatsoever. Was simply done for the Super Bowl since Tom Brady and the Pats were in the game. Which is such a shame being it was very funny.

Final Thought: Despite this disappointment, I still think the sequel will be funny and I’ll be there to see it.

Tomorrowland-Poster

“Tomorrowland” is a Disney film that looks to show the audience anything is possible with alittle imagination. I’m pretty excited for this one. And the TV Spot during the Super Bowl although didn’t “wow” me, it still left me feeling very intrigued.

A young girl driven by scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor share  a destiny to uncover the secrets of a place in space and time that only exists in their collective memories and imagination. The premise sounds good alone, but the fact it’s a Disney movie further sells me. Who does it better than Disney? Especially a movie like this. It looks visually stunning. Throw George Clooney in there who’s still delivers every time he’s on screen. Final Thought: This movie screams beautiful visuals with that Disney charm meant to be experienced on the big screen. Count me in! schwarzenegger-volvera A series in desperate need of a reboot, we’ll see Arnold Schwarzenegger return to his role as the Terminator in Terminator: Genisys (still don’t get the “y” in the name…I guess they thought it would seem trendy and cool?) I’m a huge Terminator fan. Nothing will touch the first two in this franchise. But after the last one, it’s literally begging to get a fresh start. Instead, we’re getting a “prequel” of sorts.

Game ofThrones star, Emilia Clarke, looks the role as Sarah Connor. We already know she can play the tough female role and I’m excited to see the character of Kyle Reese return to the story.

I’m also quite intrigued with the look of this new evil Terminator that’s on the hunt for Sarah Connor. Reminds me of T-1000 but with upgrades. But the focus during the Superbowl was Arnold. With the new poster and the tag line “He’s Back!”…it’s literally the selling point right now to get people excited for another Terminator movie. And honestly, who can blame them? With a new Sarah and Reese to an already fading franchise…what better way to get things buzzing around this movie then alot of Arnold!? Final Thought: He’s Back! so I’m Back!

Fast-and-Furious-7-Super-Bowl-Trailer

Lastly let’s run down the Super Bowl spot for the final installment (so they say) of the “Fast and the Furious” franchise, “Furious 7”.

I’m not the biggest F&F fan, but I definitely have enjoyed the series. Especially since Vin Diesel’s return in “Fast & Furious”.”Fast 5″ is still my favorite one. But with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson joining and all the characters returning for the   last couple movies it’s really only gotten funner but with that alot more ridiculous.

You’ll find the English tough guy, Jason Statham, has joined the cast as the new villain. He’ll be playing the cliche “brother of a guy you once killed a few movies ago” character. But if there’s anything Jason does well…it’s drive fast cars and kick serious ass. So honestly, he’s addition to this franchise makes too much sense. From the 1st Trailer we get the feeling this movie is going for complete ridiculous. Ya know…when you’re watching something and find yourself saying out loud “What!? Fuck outta here!” And the Super Bowl spot didn’t let you down.

Nothing screams “Really Movie!?” like a car racing through an office on the, oh I dunno, 87th floor!? Only to crash through the window, fly through the damn sky and make it across to the adjacent sky scrapper smashing through a window into another office. Yeah…exactly! But does it mean the movie will be bad? No. If anything you’ll be sitting there laughing about it with your friends and loving every second of it.

Final Thought: I look forward to seeing how they’ll go above and beyond for the final film as we say goodbye to this franchise (for now at least)…and unfortunately say a final goodbye to Paul Walker. Which will create a bittersweet feeling towards this film…but otherwise it’s been a fun ride (pun intended).

And I’ll wrap it up there. I would do one on “Seventh Son” but I can’t get into why everything I hear the line “You are the Seventh Son of the Seventh Son” I literally cringe. This is Mr. Matt Inee…no seriously I cringe every time!
